Small choices.
Real change.
Ordinary days.
Most of the people I work with arrive without the language for what they're experiencing.
They're running on empty and can't name why. They're leading teams, raising families, holding workplaces and communities together — and quietly wondering when their own needs stopped counting.
My work hands them two things at once: the experience of putting themselves back in the equation, and the language to hold onto it permanently. Once you can name what's happening, you can act on it.
I call that agency. The everyday practice of being as good to yourself as you are to everyone else — in the middle of real life, not instead of it.
I'm an author, speaker, coach, mentor and facilitator. My work sits where three fields meet that most people keep separate: positive psychology, story, and the language of looking after yourself well. Put them together and something shifts. People stop waiting for permission that was never going to arrive — and start choosing.
Thirty years of depth across leadership, education, public health and community arts. Fifteen-plus books written and edited. Award-winning podcasts that put real voices at the centre, because story is still the most honest way we have of working out how we're really doing.
The work travels — New York to London, Kuching to Vancouver, Launceston to Esperance. So do I. I'll come to you.
A professorship at a university sits in my back pocket. Useful, not the headline.
Who I work with
Organisations, and the leaders who run them. When people stop looking after themselves, culture pays for it. I help teams build the language and conditions that change that — quietly, durably, in ways that survive a busy Tuesday.
Women navigating major life transitions. Career pivots, loss, identity shifts, the midlife reckoning. The moments that reshape a life deserve more than a checklist.
Practitioners walking alongside them. Coaches, educators, clinicians, facilitators. Tools built for real conditions, not ideal ones.
Events and audiences. Keynotes and workshops that don't sound like every other one — warm, evidence-informed, designed to start a conversation that keeps going long after the room empties out.
Universities and researchers. Programs and resources to move forward with writing, supervision relationships, and growing as a researcher.
